Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

• Cannot a deploy virtual machine from a template to a VMware vSphere Storage Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS) cluster.
• Deploying a virtual machine from a template to a VMware vSphere Storage Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS) cluster fails.
• You see the error:
  
  Fault - NoCompatibleDatastore
  
  
• You see the alert:
  
  Datastore is in multiple datacenters alert is triggered.

Environment

VMware vCenter Server 6.0.x
VMware vCenter Server 5.0.x
VMware vCenter Server 5.1.x
VMware vCenter Server 5.5.x

Cause

This issue occurs when the datastore is shared among multiple clusters.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, ensure that the datastore is shared only on one cluster.
