Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • You hot added an independent non-persistent disk in VMware vSphere 5.5.
  • You cannot remove the disk after taking a snapshot.


Environment

Virtual Disk Development Kit 5.5
VMware Virtual Disk Development 1.2

Resolution

This is a known issue affecting VMware vSphere 5.5. This is not a defect due to VDDK 5.5.

Currently, there is no resolution.

To avoid this issue during a backup or restore process, do not initiate self-backup of the proxy virtual machine using HotAdd or NBD.
