Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
If you are using the vSphere Web Client over the vSphere Client, you see:
  • Performance degradation when you create, delete or perform configuration changes to objects.
  • Timeouts when updating objects in the vSphere Web Client.
  • Concurrent session errors when configuring a virtual machine.
  • High CPU usage for the Inventory Service and vCenter Server Service process.

Environment

VMware vCenter Server 6.0.x
VMware vSphere Web Client 6.0.x

Cause

This issue occurs under the following conditions:
  • You are using vCenter Server and vSphere Web Client 6 Update 2
  • A medium or large size inventory in the vCenter Server
  • Storage I/O Control enabled on some or all datastores

Resolution

This issue is resolved in VMware vCenter Server 6.0 Update 3, available at VMware Downloads.

To work around this issue, disable Storage I/O Control.

To disable the Storage I/O Control:
  1. Select a datastore in the vSphere Client inventory and click the Configuration tab.
  2. Click Properties.
  3. Under Storage I/O Control, select Disabled.
  4. Click Close.

Note: This setting is specific to the datastore and not to the host.
