Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
Test recovery fails with the error:

Unable to copy the configuration file '[datastore-name] vm-name/vm-name.vmx' from the host to '[file location]' Failed to copy file '[datastore-name] vm-name/vm-name.vmx' to '[file name]': 11 - The session does not have the required permissions.

Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi 6.7
VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager 8.x

Cause

This issue occurs because Datastores are getting disconnected during recovery and do not automatically reconnect within the allotted time.
Note: This issue occurs only on SRM 8.X with ESXi 6.7.

Resolution

To resolve this issue:

Open the following file
C:\Program Files\VMware\VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager\config
look for "vmware-dr.xml" Open the file in Notepad to edit the file.

Note: The Drive letter may change depending on where the customer has installed the SRM service.
  1. Add the following section to the configuration file and restart the SRM service:
<nfc>
  <retryCount>20</retryCount>
  <retryDelaySeconds>30</retryDelaySeconds>
</nfc>

Note: Adjust the parameter values according to the specification of the environment.

  1. If recovery is still failing, manually attach the missing datastores.
