Issue/Introduction

  • Deploying VMware vCenter Server 6.0 with external Platform Services Controller (PSC) fails.
  • You see the error:

    Invalid credentials
  • The Platform Services Controller deploys successfully. However, the vCenter Server deployment fails after entering the Single Sign-On (SSO) credentials.
  • You see the error:

    Invalid credentials

Environment

  • VMware vCenter Server 6.0.x
  • VMware vCenter Server Appliance 6.0.x

Cause

This issue occurs due to the VMware vCenter Server installer failing to contact the Platform Services Controller because of blocked ports or misconfigured DNS.

Resolution

Ensure your firewall is configured to allow traffic on all the required ports. For more information, see Required ports for vCenter Server 6.0 (2106283).

Ensure that DNS forward and reverse lookup are also configured correctly.
