Issue/Introduction

This article provides steps to work around the issue when you are unable to access the full desktop in a Web Client console.

Symptoms:
  • When accessing virtual machine console through Web Client, the mouse does not have access to the entire desktop.
  • Adjusting the zoom on the browser yields either better or worse results depending on zoom in versus zoom out.


Environment

VMware vCenter Server 6.0.x
VMware vCenter Server Appliance 6.0.x

Resolution

Currently there is no resolution.

To work around to the issue:
  1. Navigate to Web Client installation directory:

    C:\Program Files\VMware\vCenter Server\WebClient\server\deployer\s\global\

    OR

    /usr/lib/vmware-vsphere-client/server/work/deployer/s/global)

  2. Open the webconsole.html in container-app folder using text editor

    Note: Webconsole.html is located at C:\Program Files\VMware\vCenter Server\WebClient\server\work\deployer\s\global\38\0\container-app-war-6.0.0.war\webconsole.html

    OR

    /usr/lib/vmware-vsphere-client/server/work/deployer/s/global/38/0/container-app-war-6.0.0.war/). Open the html file using a text editor.

  3. Change the value of useNativePixels to false.

Note: The above change does not persist through reboots or restarts of the Web Client service.
