"Error occurred while processing request. Check vSphere WebClient logs for details" fails after VC 6.0 U1 installation/upgrade

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

• After installing or upgrading to vCenter Server 6.0 Update 1 the Customer Experience Improvement Program displays the error:
  
  Error occurred while processing request. Check vSphere WebClient logs for details.

• After installing or upgrading to vCenter Server 6.0 Update 1, and replacing your SSL certificates, you experience these issues:

• Logging into the vSphere Web Client with any user, you see this error:
  
  Error occurred while processing request. Check vSphere WebClient logs for details.
   
• Accessing the Customer Experience Improvement Program (CEIP) UI in the vSphere Web Client (Administration > Customer Experience Improvement Program), you see the error:
  
  Error occurred while processing request. Check vSphere WebClient logs for details.
   
• In the CEIP UI in the vSphere Web Client, the Join and Leave buttons are greyed out.
• In the vsphere_client_virgo.log file, you see entries similar to:
  
  (located at: /var/log/vmware/vsphere-client/logs or %ProgramData%\VMware\vCenterServer\logs\vsphere-client\logs)

Cause

This issue occurs due to the vCenter Server or Platform Services Controller uses a new certificate, though the corresponding Service Registrations with the Lookup Service are not updated. When solutions such as the Customer Experience Imporovement Program connect to the vCenter Server and the Platform Services Controller, they reference the Service Registration, which includes the service URL and the SSL trust string.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, ensure that you have updated the SSL Trust anchors of the vCenter Server and the Platform Services Controller stored in the Lookup Service after you have updated your SSL certificates.
