Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

• Migration of vCenter Windows 6.0 to vCenter Server Appliance 6.5 fails
• Stage 2 fails during the DB migration
• You will see similar entries in postgres.log

ERROR: missing data for column "scheduledtask_id" CONTEXT: COPY vpx_event_arg, line 4589: "13934717,0,string,?????±????§??°??§????????? Virtual Storage Console 6.1.0.5250 ??????????????????..." ERROR: invalid input syntax for type numeric: "2018-08-19 23:45:13.190000" CONTEXT: COPY vpx_event

Environment

VMware vCenter Server 6.0.x
VMware vCenter Server Appliance 6.5.x

Cause

This error occurs due to Japanese Character in the VPX_EVENT and VPX_EVENT_ARG tables

Resolution

To resolve this issue you can try one of the below steps:

1. Select option to export only configuration while Migration.
2. Or find the entry in vpx_event table with Japanese symbols and delete all those entry.
