Platform Services Controller services wont start after restoring from backup

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

• All Services on the PSC will not start or are disabled when restoring from backup.
• In the Web client, you see error similar to:

503 Service Unavailable (Failed to connect to endpoint: [N7Vmacore4Http20NamedPipeServiceSpecE:0x7f613405e6f0] = /_isRedirect=false _pipeName =/var/run/vmware/vpxd-webserver-pipe)

• In the VPXD.log file, you see error similar to:

warning vpxd[7F38CC164800] [Originator@6876 sub=VpxdAuthClient] [ConnectAndLogin] Failed to loginBySamlToken: N7Vmacore15SystemExceptionE(Connection refused)

Environment

VMware vCenter Server Appliance 6.0.x
VMware vCenter Server 6.0.x

Resolution

To resolve this issue, change the SSO Administrators password:

1. Connect to the vCenter Server using SSH and root credentials.
2. Run this command to reset the SSO Administrator password.

psc_restore -u sso_administrator_username -p new_sso_administrator_password

Note: the default SSO Administrator is [email protected].
