Issue/Introduction

In VMware ESXi 5.x/6.x, when presenting replicated volume to a host and mounting that volume, you experience these symptoms:
  • When resignaturing a volume, the vSphere Client returns an error similar to:

An error occurred during host configuration

Operation filed, diagnostics report: Sysinfo error on operation returned status: Read only. Please see the VMkernel log for detailed error information.

  • When adding the volume without resignaturing, the vSphere Client returns an error similar to:

    Cannot change the host configuration

Call "HostStorageSystem.ResolveMultipleUnresolvedVmfsVolumes" for object "storageSystem" on ESXi "[hostname]' failed

Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi 5.0
VMware vSphere ESXi 5.5
VMware vSphere ESXi 6.0
VMware vSphere ESXi 5.1

Resolution

To resolve this issue, change the presented storage to be read and write (rather than read only) from the storage array.

For configuration assistance, contact your storage vendor.
