Issue/Introduction

This article contains the prerequisites that needs to be met before upgrading vRSLCM.

Environment

VMware vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager 2.x
VMware vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager 1.x

Resolution

Perform the following steps before initiating an upgrade:
  1. Take an SSH session to vRSLCM appliance using root credentials.
  2. Run this command to give execute permission to /etc/vlcm/upgrade-va
    chmod -R 775 /etc/vlcm/upgrade-va
  3. Run this command to check sfcb service is running:
    /etc/init.d/vami-sfcb status
  4. If sfcb service is not running, run this command to start the sfcb service: /etc/init.d/vami-sfcb start.
  5. Ensure that there is a minimum of 3GB disk space available on the root “/” filesystem before initiating the upgrade. Use “df -h” command to find the disk usage.

Additional Information

Impact/Risks:
vRLSCM upgrade from 1.2 to later will not work if the execute permission is not there for /etc/vlcm/upgrade-va.

vRSLCM upgrade might fail if there is insufficient disk space.
