Issue/Introduction

This article provides to verify that your account has local Administrator rights. The article also details adding your user or security group to the list of local Administrators

Environment

VMware Capacity Planner 2.6.x
VMware Capacity Planner 2.5.x
VMware Capacity Planner 2.1.x

Resolution

To verify you have Administrator rights and to add a user or group as a local Administrator:

  1. Open the local user management console.
    1. Click Start > Run.
    2. Type lusrmgr.msc and press Enter. The Local Users and Groups console appears.
  2. Click Groups. Double-click Administrators.
  3. Check the list of users and groups. Your user name appears here, or a security group to which your account belongs.

    Note: If you are using a Domain user you may need to consult the Active Directory to confirm to which security groups your user belongs.

  4. If your account or security group does not appear, you must log out of Windows and log in with one of the accounts listed. Follow the instructions in steps 1 and 2, and click Add to add your user to the list.
