Issue/Introduction

This article reviews the appropriate Data Synchronization settings for Capacity Planner.

Symptoms:
  • Data synchronization completes successfully, however no data files appear on the Dashboard in Capacity Planner
  • Only log files appear, or import processing of Linux files is not executing.

Environment

VMware Capacity Planner 2.5.x
VMware Capacity Planner 2.6.x
VMware Capacity Planner 2.1.x

Resolution

  1. Open the Data Synchronization settings.

Click Admin > Options > Jobs > "Scheduled - Data Synchronize" > Tasks > Data Synchronization > General.

  2. The defaults for this dialog is that all options are selected.
  3. If files are not being uploaded to the Dashboard, however log files are seen on the Dashboard in Dashboards > Collection Dashboard > Collection Stats > View Log files. Verify Export collection data for systems is selected, and in the Export tab, ensure all options are not selected.
  4. If Linux servers are not being processed, verify that Import collection data for systems is selected, and in the Import tab, ensure all options are not selected.
