Environment

VMware vRealize Operations 8.x

Resolution

This is a known issue affecting the Management Pack for Horizon (both on-prem and SaaS), there is no resolution at this time.  Please subscribe to this article to be informed when updates are published.

Workaround:

To workaround this issue for on-prem environments:

  1. SSH to the VMware Aria Operations primary node as root
Note: If you do not know, or have forgotten your root password, refer to
  1. Take a backup of the describe.xml file of the Management Pack for Horizon (MP4H) adapter
cp /usr/lib/vmware-vcops/user/plugins/inbound/vrho-adapter/conf/describe.xml /usr/lib/vmware-vcops/user/plugins/inbound/vrho-adapter/conf/describe.xml.orig
  1. Using a text editor such as vi, edit the /usr/lib/vmware-vcops/user/plugins/inbound/vrho-adapter/conf/describe.xml file
  2. Replace objectType=UAG with objecttype=UnifiedAccessGateway (in total, 14 occurrences will be found)
  3. Save the file and exit
  4. Repeat steps 1-5 on all nodes in the VMware Aria Operations cluster
  5. Log in to the VMware Aria Operations Product UI as an administrator
  6. Navigate to Administration > Redescribe
  7. Under Adapter Info, click VMware Horizon Adapter
  8. Click Redescribe
  9. Click Yes on the pop-up dialog prompting "Do you want to revert adapter content settings to their default values?"
  10. Allow a collection cycle (5 minutes) to complete before checking for UAG metrics at the Horizon World level

To workaround this issue for SaaS environments:

  1. Log in to VMware Aria Operations (SaaS) (formerly known as vRealize Operations Cloud) as an administrator.
  2. From the left menu, navigate to Configure > Super Metrics
  3. Click the horizontal ellipsis and then click Imort
  4. When prompted, provide the attached json file (UAG_HorizonWorld.json)
  5. (Optional). If the target instance has a super metric with the same name as the super metric you are importing, you can either overwrite the existing super metric or skip the import, which is the default.
  6. Navigate to Configure > Policies, and then click Default Policy
  7. Click Edit Policy
  8. Click Metrics & Properties, and then select the object type as Horizon World
  9. Expand the Super Metrics section, and change the 9 imported Super metrics to Enabled state
  10. Click Save
  11. Verify that Super Metrics are now displayed for Horizon World object
  12. Navigate to Visualize > Dashboards > Manage Dashboards
  13. Select Import from More Actions
  14. When prompted, provide the attached zip file (UAG_Performance_Dashboard.zip)
  15. (Optional) Select Overwrite option
  16. Click Import
  17. Allow a collection cycle (5 minutes) to complete before checking for UAG metrics at the Horizon World level
