Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

  • After installing Guest Introspection on the cluster in VMware NSX for vSphere 6.1.x, the ESXi host that is offline displays the Installation Status as Succeeded and a Status as Unknown.
  • Running the show log command on the NSX Manager displays messages similar to:

2015-06-05 02:14:48.086 GMT WARN messagingTaskExecutor-6 EndpointHealthStatusProcessor:196 - Received Endpoint Health Status report for host: host-1527without Endpoint Service deployed

Environment

VMware NSX for vSphere 6.3.x
VMware NSX for vSphere 6.2.x
VMware NSX for vSphere 6.1.x

Resolution

To work around this issue:

  1. Remove Guest Instrospection from all clusters showing a Status of Unknown and State of Warning.
  2. Stop the NSX Management Service from the NSX Manager Web User Interface (UI).
  3. Delete the VMKernel adapter(169.254.1.1) that NSX/GI created when first installed.
  4. Start the NSX Management Service.
  5. Reinstall Guest Instrospection on each of the cluster one at a time.
