Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
You experience these issues with Tasks and Events in vCenter Server on Windows hosts with French as their default language:

• Tasks appear with the syntax:
  
  XXX some_text.label not found XXX
  
  
• Events appear with the syntax:
  
  XXX some_text.fullFormat not found XXX

Note: You may also experience the same issue if you are using the vSphere Client from a workstation that uses Italian or Dutch as a default language to connect to vCenter Server that uses English as a default language.

Environment

VMware vCenter Server 4.1.x
VMware vCenter Server 4.0.x
VMware vCenter Server 5.0.x

Resolution

To work around this issue, run this command to launch vSphere Client as administrator:

"C:\Program Files\VMware\Infrastructure\Virtual Infrastructure Client\Launcher\VpxClient.exe"-locale en_US

Additional Information

Note: If the preceding work around does not resolve the issue and if the user does not have required privileges to access the vSphere Client log:

1. Right-click the vSphere Client and click Run as Administrator.
2. Close and the reopen the vSphere Client.
