Issue/Introduction

This article provides steps to change the database connection password on a vCloud Director (vCD) cell.

Environment

VMware Cloud Director 5.1.x
VMware Cloud Director 5.5.x
VMware Cloud Director 1.5.x

Resolution

To change the database connection password on a vCD cell:
  1. Shutdown the vCD service. For more information, see Stopping, starting, or restarting the VMware vCloud Director service (1026310).
  2. Back up the /opt/vmware/vcloud-director/etc/global.properties file.
  3. Open the /opt/vmware/vcloud-director/etc/global.properties file using a text editor.
  4. Remove (or comment out) the lines beginning with:

    database.jbdcUrl=
    database.username=
    database.password=

  5. Run the configure script located at /opt/vmware/vcloud-director/bin/.
  6. After the script completes, run this command to restart the vCD service manually (if not prompted by the configure script):

    service vmware-vcd start
