Issue/Introduction

The mouse might fail to work on CentOS 6.0 or CentOS 6.1 after you install OSPs for VMware Tools. The error messages similar to the following are displayed from Xorg.0.log file:

(EE) Failed to load module "vmmouse" (module requirement mismatch, 0)

(EE) No input driver matching `vmmouse'

Environment

VMware ESX 4.1.x
VMware vSphere ESXi 5.0
VMware vSphere ESXi 5.1

Resolution

To resolve the problem, perform the following steps:

1. Remove the packages xorg-x11-drv-vmware and xorg-x11-drv-vmmouse from CentOS 6.0 or CentOS 6.1.
2. Install OSPs for VMware Tools.
