Issue/Introduction

This article provides steps to change the IP addresses of the Analytics and UI VMs in vRealize Operations Manager 5.x (formerly known as VMware vCenter Operations Manager).

Resolution

Note: Before proceeding, ensure to take a snapshot of the vApp. Commit the snapshots after ensuring that everything is working after the IP address change.

To change the IP addresses of the Analytics VM:
  1. Stop the vRealize Operations Manager (formerly known as VMware vCenter Operations Manager) services from the Admin UI or using the command vcops-admin stop on the UI VM console as the admin user.
  2. Log in to Analytics Virtual Machine as admin user.
  3. Edit the file /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-eth0 using vi editor and specify the new IP address.
  4. Run this command to restart the network interface:

    service network restart

  5. Run this command on the console UI VM as the admin user to repair the connection between the UI VM and Analytic VM:

    vcops-admin repair --ipaddress new-analytics-ip
To change the IP addresses of the UI VM:
  1. Stop the vRealize Operations services from the Admin UI or using the command vcops-admin stop on the console UI VM as the admin user.
  2. Log in to UI Virtual Machine as admin user.

After changing the IP addresses of the Analytic and UI VMs, update the vCenter Connection server using the vSphere Client. To do this:
  • From vRealize Operations Manager admin UI, click Update on each of the vCenter servers that are connected.
Note: Alternatively, network configuration on both Analytics VM and UI VM can be changed by using this command on console:

opt/vmware/share/vami/vami_config_net
