Changing the polling time for datastore paths

Issue/Introduction

This articles describes changing the path polling time for all datastores.

Symptoms:

Environment

VMware ESX Server 3.5.x
VMware ESX 4.0.x
VMware ESX Server 3.0.x
VMware ESX 4.1.x

Resolution

The default value is 300 seconds.

The value must be between 30 seconds and 1500 seconds.

To edit the value:

1. Log in to the ESX host or VirtualCenter using the Virtual Infrastructure Client. If you log in to VirtualCenter, select the ESX Server to be modified.
   
2. Click on the Configuration tab.
   
3. Click Advanced Settings.
   
4. Click Disk.
   
5. Update the Disk.PathEvalTime field.

Note: This change has to be made to each ESX host.
