Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

When viewing group of services as a logical application, you experience these symptoms:

• Viewing group of services as a logical application fails with the error on the hyperic dashboard.
• You cannot view the metrics chart.
• The server.log file contains entries similar to:
  
  <YYYY-MM-DD><time>,538 IST ERROR [tomcat-http--88] [org.hibernate.hql.PARSER@33] <AST>: unexpected end of subtree
  09-09-2014 14:53:51,542 IST ERROR [tomcat-http--88] [org.hyperic.hq.ui.util.UIErrorHandler@49] An exception was thrown for the following request URI '/portal/MainLayout.jsp' :
  org.hibernate.hql.ast.QuerySyntaxException: unexpected end of subtree [FROM org.hyperic.hq.authz.server.session.ResourceEdge re WHERE distance >= :dist and relation=:relation AND re.from in () AND re.to.prototype = :type]
  
  An exception was thrown for the following request URI '/portal/MainLayout.jsp' :javax.servlet.ServletException: Can't find Tile context for 'org.hyperic.hq.ui.action.resource.autogroup.monitor.visibility.ListChildrenAction'. TilesAction subclasses must be called from a Tile at org.apache.struts.tiles.actions.TilesAction.execute(TilesAction.java:70)</time>

Resolution

This is a known issue affecting VMware vRealize Hyperic (vCenter Hyperic Server) 5.8.x.

Currently, there is no resolution or work around.
