Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
When Intel Corporation Lewisburg SATA AHCI Controller is in RAID mode, driver vmw_ahci will not claim this controller in ESXi 6.5, so you are unable find the controller in ESXi 6.5, 6.7 or 7.0

Environment

VMware ESXi 6.7.x
VMware ESXi 6.5.x
VMware vSphere ESXi 7.0.x

Resolution

VMware does not support the RAID mode of Intel Corporation Lewisburg SATA AHCI Controller in VMware ESXi 6.5, 6.7 or 7.0 the AHCI mode has been supported starting from VMware ESXi 6.5 release.

If you want to use this controller with ESXi 6.5, 6.7 or 7.0 change the mode of this controller to AHCI in the system BIOS.
