Issue/Introduction

  • Upgrading to vCenter Server 6.0 with an external Microsoft SQL Server 2008 database fails with the error:

    Error: Source vCenter Server validation found an issue: Error executing 'SELECT required_perm.permission_name' Resolution: Please make sure your database is configured to meet vCenter Server upgrade requirements.
     
  • The issue occurs when using a domain user.
  • The issue does not occur when using a local system user.


Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi 6.0
VMware vCenter Server 6.0.x

Resolution

This is a known issue affecting the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 versions.
