I/O filter installed on a host stopped functioning

Issue/Introduction

You receive this event when the I/O filter installed on a host encounters an unrecoverable error condition.

Impact

Virtual machines that require I/O filters are not provisioned on the failing host.

Environment

VMware vCenter Server 6.5.x
VMware vSphere ESXi 6.5

Resolution

To fix this problem, contact the vendor. After the error is resolved, run the following esxcli command on the host to reestablish the I/O filter:

esxcli storage iofilter enable -f filter_name

To obtain filter_name, run the esxcli storage iofilter list command.
