Cannot find the VMware Tools CD.


Resolution

The installers for supported guest operating systems have VMware Tools packaged in VMware products as ISO image files. An ISO image file looks like a CD-ROM in your guest operating system and Windows Explorer.

You do not use a physical CD-ROM to install VMware Tools or download the CD-ROM image or burn a physical CD-ROM of this image file.

Select Settings > VMware Tools Install, the VMware product temporarily connects the virtual machine's first virtual CD-ROM drive to the ISO image file that contains the VMware Tools installer for your guest operating system.

    Note: VMware Player 2.x and 1.x are meant to play pre-built virtual machines. When creating the pre-built virtual machine, VMware Tools are included, if it is required. If you want to add VMware Tools to a virtual machine, then you must use a VMware product like ESX Server, Workstation or VMware Server, which allows you to alter virtual machines.
