Issue/Introduction

This article provides information about the Lenovo System x series server Firmware Update Provider Broker (FUPB) CIM provider support to update firmware on Lenovo Customized images for ESXi. The provider installs Lenovo (IMM, pDSA, UEFI, FPGA) and vendor (Emulex, Broadcom, LSI, Qlogic, and Brocade update packages for ESXi) firmware updates. The Lenovo UpdateXpress System Pack Installer also uses the FUPB provider.

With these providers, Lenovo ToolsCenter is able to manage ESXi 5.x and later systems.

Since the FUPB provider is bundled with the Lenovo custom image, the provider exclusively supports Lenovo’s ToolCenter UpdateXpress System Pack Installer.
