Sophos Anti-Virus for VMware vShield 1.0 Secure Virtual Machine (SVM) is a virtual appliance that helps to protect virtual machines from the latest virus threats, without compromising their performance and speed.

The application integrates into a VMware ESXi infrastructure via VMware vShield Endpoint and protects virtual machines without the need for installing antivirus software on guest operating systems.

Sophos Anti-Virus for VMware vShield 1.0 uses the EPSEC library provided by VMware for interacting with virtual machines.

For installing Sophos Anti-Virus for VMware vShield 1.0, you need these VMware virtual infrastructure configuration:

  • ESXi 5.1 or later
  • vCenter Server 5.1 or later
  • VMWare vShield Endpoint 5.1 or later
  • VMWare vShield Manager 5.1 or later
  • VMWare vShield Endpoint Thin Agent

Software requirements for protected virtual machines

  • Windows 7 (32-bit or 64-bit)
  • Windows Server 2008 R2 (64-bit)
  • Windows Server 2008 (32-bit or 64-bit)
