UMP home page does not resolve to expected landing page without having to add /web/guest at the end of the URL

Issue/Introduction

Login as administrator works fine.

Signing out of UMP goes to:

http://atlcorpnim03/web/guest/home

Hitting the main page, e.g., http://atlcorpnim03 redirects to:

http://atlcorpnim03/user and the page is blank.

Therefore, /web/guest has to be added to the end of the URL to get to the SignIn window.

Resolution

To resolve the issue of the UMP home page defaulting to /user (and a blank page):

Comment out the following in the Liferay portal properties file which is located in: ...\Program Files (x86)\Nimsoft\probes\service\wasp\webapps\ROOT\WEB-INF\classes

#This sets the default home URL of the portal
#company.default.home.url=/user

Also note that you only need the following two lines in the portal-ext properties file.

1. #disable public pages for users

layout.user.public.layouts.enabled=false

2. #give power users the right to have public and private pages

layout.user.public.layouts.power.user.required=true
