Resolution

This is a known issue affecting VMware vRealize Automation 7.3.0.

This issue is resolved in VMware vRealize Automation 7.3.1 and VMware vRealize Automation 7.4, available at VMware Downloads

To resolve this issue in vRealize Automation 7.3.0, download and install the 2150833_Hotfix.zip patch attached to this article.

Prerequisites:

  1. Take the snapshot of the vRealize Automation Center virtual appliance.

  2. Backup licensing-server-7.3.0-SNAPSHOT.jar file from /usr/lib/vcac/server/webapps/component-registry/WEB-INF/lib/

  3. Download the 2150833_Hotfix.zip package, extract  and copy new jar file to /tmp folder on the cafe node.
Procedure:
  1. Stop the vcac-server service by running the following command:
    service vcac-server stop

  2. Create backup folder:
    mkdir -p /tmp/backup

  3. Backup existing licensing-server-7.3.0-SNAPSHOT.jar file from /usr/lib/vcac/server/webapps/component-registry/WEB-INF/lib/ to a backup folder.
    cp /usr/lib/vcac/server/webapps/component-registry/WEB-INF/lib/licensing-server-7.3.0-SNAPSHOT.jar /tmp/backup/

  4. Remove the existing licensing-server-7.3.0-SNAPSHOT.jar file:
    rm -f /usr/lib/vcac/server/webapps/component-registry/WEB-INF/lib/licensing-server-7.3.0-SNAPSHOT.jar

  5. Copy the new licensing-server-7.3.0-SNAPSHOT.jar file extracted from /tmp to /usr/lib/vcac/server/webapps/component-registry/WEB-INF/lib/:
    cp /tmp/licensing-server-7.3.0-SNAPSHOT.jar  /usr/lib/vcac/server/webapps/component-registry/WEB-INF/lib/

  6. Change permission of the jar file :
    chmod 644 /usr/lib/vcac/server/webapps/component-registry/WEB-INF/lib/licensing-server-7.3.0-SNAPSHOT.jar

  7. Restart the services on the café node :
    service vcac-server restart

  8. Repeat steps from 1 to 7 for all vRealize Appliances.

Rollback Steps:
  1. Stop the vcac-server service by running the following command:
    service vcac-server stop

  2. Replace the jar file from the backup location to /usr/lib/vcac/server/webapps/component-registry/WEB-INF/lib/

  3. Restart the service with the command :
service vcac-server restart

NOTE: Contact VMware Customer Support if you have any questions or concerns.

Workaround:
To work around this issue:

  1. Start the master vRA VA node.
  2. Wait until the licensing service is up and REGISTERED.
  3. Start the remaining vRA VA nodes of the cluster.
