Issue/Introduction

This article provides information on renaming the VSADs-0, VSADs-1 or VSADs-2 NFS datastores that are part of a vSphere Storage Appliance (vSA) Cluster.

Environment

VMware vSphere Storage Appliance 5.1.x

Resolution

It is possible to rename the NFS datastores (VSADs-0, VSADs-1 or VSADs-2) that are exported to vSA hosts by a vSA cluster.

Notes:

  • Changing the names of datastores changes the records in the vCenter Server database, but not the VSADB (the vSA database inside the cluster).
  • This resolution may affect workflows such as Replace Node.

To rename the NFS datastore:
  1. From vCenter Server, go to Home > Inventory > Datastores.
  2. Click the Datastore Clusters view.
  3. Right-click on the Datastore you want to rename and enter the new name.

If you encounter any difficulties renaming the NFS datastore, change the name back to the original and repeat the steps.
