Issue/Introduction

To resolve this issue, identify and delete stale plug-in vSphere replication from vCenter Server.

Symptoms:
Installing Site Recovery Manager (SRM) at DR site fails with the error:

The version of vSphere replication installed with this vCenter Server instance is incompatible with this version of Site Recovery Manager

Environment

VMware Site Recovery Manager 6.1.x

Cause

This issue occurs if the vSphere replication appliance registered to vCenter Server is incompatible with Site Recovery Manager.

Resolution

To resolve this issue:
  1. Upgrade vSphere replication to a version which is compatible with vCenter Server. For more information, see VMware Product Interoperability Matrixes.

    Note
: VMware recommends you to take a snapshot of vCenter server before modifying any objects/entries in vCenter Server.

  2. Browse the vCenter Server MOB URL and delete the stale vSphere replication. For more information, see Cannot remove or disable unwanted plug-ins from vCenter Server and vCenter Server Appliance (1025360).
