Issue/Introduction

  • VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager (SRM) reports this error in the GUI:
There are not enough licenses installed to perform the operation
  • In the vmware-dr.log file, you see entries similar to:
[DTG warning 'LicenseManager'] The license key 'xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxxx' has expired.
[DTG] warning 'Replication'] Can't protect VM if server is not licensed
verbose 'PropertyProvider'] RecordOp ASSIGN: content.about.name, DrServiceInstance
[DTG] trivia 'SanConfigManager'] Received update for vim.Datastore:datastorename:

  • The license key reported in the SRM logs does not appear to be a VMware license

Resolution

This issue occurs when there are one or more expired SRM licenses in vCenter Server.

To resolve this issue, remove the expired SRM licenses from vCenter Server and restart the SRM services.

Choose the non-evaluation license here and assign the correct license.

Do this for both sites and restart the srm service both sites.  

Issue should then be resolved.
