Issue/Introduction

This article provides information on how to remove vCNS/vShield Manager from your environment.

Environment

VMware vCloud Networking and Security 5.5.x

Resolution

To remove vCNS/vShield from your environment:
  1. Remove the Services such Endpoint and Data Security from each ESXi host.

Note: vShield App requires an ESXi host reboot.

  2. Unprepare the hosts for VXLAN traffic. This requires an ESXi host reboot. You can perform stage 1 and 2 and then perform a reboot so each host is only rebooted once.
  3. Un-associate the vShield Manager from the vCenter Server. For more information, see Cannot remove or disable unwanted plug-ins from vCenter Server and vCenter Server Appliance (1025360).
  4. Power off the vShield Manager. vShield Manager should now have been removed from your infrastructure.
