vCloud Director Endpoint data collection fails with the error: The given header was not found.

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

• After creating a vCloud Director (vCD) Endpoint, data collection begins, but then fails
• vCD Endpoint data collection fails
• You see the error:
  
  Workflow "vCloudEndpointDataCollection" failed with the following exception: Cannot connect to vCloud serverUrl:https://vcd1.vcloud.local, userName:Administrator, org:System. Please verify endpoint and credentials. Inner Exception: The given header was not found.
  

Environment

VMware vCloud Automation Center for Server 5.2.x

Cause

This issue occurs due to improper configuration of the vCloud Director Public Addresses.

Resolution

To resolve this, ensure that the VCD public REST API base URL is correct and the Endpoint you are connecting is identical to the VCD public REST API base URL.

To verify this:

1. Log in to vCloud Director as an Administrator.
2. Navigate to Administration > Public Addresses.
3. Make sure that the VCD public REST API base URL is correct.
4. Verify that the Endpoint you are connecting to is identical to the VCD public REST API base URL.
