Issue/Introduction

• Configuring VMware NSX for vSphere 6.x Load Balanced web servers using NT LAN Manager (NTLM) authentication fails.
• Authentication through the NSX Edge Load Balancer always fails.
• Cannot configure VMware NSX for vSphere 6.x Load Balanced web servers using NT LAN Manager (NTLM) authentication.

Environment

VMware NSX Data Center for vSphere 6.x

Cause

This issue occurs due to the VMware NSX Data Center for vSphere Load Balancer closes the server TCP connection after each client request by default.
 

NTLM authentication requires multiple HTTP requests in the same TCP session and authentication through the NSX Load Balancer.

 

Resolution

Configure the VIP with this application Rule:

# NTLM authentication (do not close session on the server side after each request)

no option http-server-close
