Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
During an upgrade of VMware NSX for vSphere 6.1.6 to 6.2.2, you experience these symptoms:
  • Upgrading the NSX Controllers fails
  • From the NSX User Interface (UI), you see this issue similar to:



  • Running the show log command on the NSX Manager console reports entries similar to:

    request for "https://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/ws.v2/tasks/d450964c-7a4c-49ba-894e-1e3295a0d4d9/response" resulted in 409 (Conflict); invoking error handler"

    Note: The preceding log excerpts are only examples. Date, time, and environmental variables may vary depending on your environment.


Environment

VMware NSX for vSphere 6.2.x
VMware NSX for vSphere 6.1.x

Resolution

Upgrading from VMware NSX 6.1.6 to 6.2.2 is unsupported. For more information, see the VMware Interoperability Matrixes.

To recover from this issue:
  1. Re-deploy all NSX Controllers.
  2. Remove the ESXi hosts from the NSX prepared cluster.
  3. Reboot the ESXi hosts.
  4. Re-add the ESXi hosts back to the NSX prepared cluster which should update the VIBs on the hosts.
