Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager (SRM) cannot replicate devices on an IBM SRA during a test fail over.
  • SRM fails to replicate devices on an IBM SRA during a test fail over.
  • You see this error:

    failed to promote replica devices

  • The replication is stuck and does not proceed.
  • The SRA shows that the replication is broken both ways after the failure.
  • Re-running the replication shows that the command.pl has valid data, but the SAN replication in SRA plug-in is broken both ways.

Environment

VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager 5.5.x

Cause

This issue occurs because the SRA-STATUS for the IBM SRA is not synchronized.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, clear the SRA-STATUS and refresh the SRA's data.
To clear the SRA-STATUS and refresh the SRA's data:
  1. Delete the SRA-STATUS file from both the Protection and Recovery Sites.

Note: The SRA-STATUS file is located at C:\Program Files\VMware\VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager\storage\sra\IBMSVC\SRA-STATUS.
