vCenter Server Appliance shows high memory utilization for vmcad having high consumption

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

• vCenter server Appliance (VCSA) shows high memory utilization
• Executing the below command via ssh to VCSA, vmcad shows consuming more than 10% memory

# ps -auwwx --sort -%mem

USER    PID %CPU %MEM  VSZ  RSS TTY   STAT START  TIME COMMAND

root   1995 0.0 11.2 2134868 1382940 ?   Sl  2022 328:09 /usr/lib/vmware-vmca/sbin/vmcad -L

• Restarting vmcad fixes the issue temporarily

Environment

VMware vCenter Server 7.0.x
VMware vCenter Server 8.0.x

Resolution

Currently, there is no resolution for this issue.

Workaround:

Restart the vmcad using the below command

service-control --restart vmcad
