Determining vCenter Single Sign-On and vCenter Inventory Service version numbers

Issue/Introduction
This article provides steps to determine the version of vCenter Single Sign-On (SSO) and vCenter Inventory Service that are currently installed.
Environment
VMware vCenter Server 5.1.x
VMware vCenter Server 5.5.x
VMware vCenter Server 5.5.x
Resolution
To determine the version of SSO installed:
- Log in to the server where SSO is installed.
- Click Start > Run, type regedit, and click OK.
- Navigate to HKLM > SOFTWARE > VMware, Inc. > VMware Infrastructure > SSOServer.
- The InstalledVersion Key Name provides the version number of SSO installed. For more information, see the vCenter Single Sign-On Revision Number table in the Additional Information section.
To determine the version of Inventory Service installed:
- Log in to the server where the Inventory Service is installed.
- Click Start > Run, type regedit, and click OK.
- Navigate to the HKLM > SOFTWARE > VMware, Inc. > VMware Infrastructure > Inventory Service.
- The InstalledVersion Key Name provides the version number of Inventory Service installed. For more information, see the vCenter Inventory Service Revision Number table in the Additional Information section.
To confirm the version of SSO and Inventory Service you are planning to install:
- Open the installation media and navigate to these folders:
- installation_directory\Single Sign On\
Note: This folder is applicable only to vSphere 5.1.
- installation_directory\Inventory Service\
- installation_directory\Single Sign On\
- Open the setup.ini file in these folders using a plain text editor.
- Locate the ProductVersion value to determine the version number.
