Issue/Introduction
When you configure a virtual machine for replication to cloud, its NICs and MAC addresses are exported automatically to the target site as part of provisioning the placeholder VM on the cloud site. If the test network is not isolated from the production network and the networks have common routing, a test recovery of the replicated virtual machine might result in duplicate MAC addresses in your virtual data center.
Environment
VMware vSphere Replication 5.8.x
Resolution
Use the vCloud Director UI to reset the MAC address of the replicated virtual machine. Note: Once reset, the MAC address cannot be reverted.
In the VMware vCloud Air portal, navigate to Virtual Data Center Details page, and on the Virtual Machines tab, locate the VM that you want to reconfigure.
Click the VM to navigate to the Virtual Machine Details page.
At the right of the page, click the link Manage VM in vCloud Director. The vCloud Director UI displays the details of the replicated vApp.
Click the Virtual Machines tab, right-click the virtual machine, and select Properties from the context menu.
On the Hardware tab, locate the NICs pane and use the drop-down menu in the MAC Address column to reset the MAC address of the VM.
