UNKNOWN_SYSTEM_ERROR when performing vCenter data collection in vRSLCM

Issue/Introduction

  • vRSLCM is deployed in VCF aware mode.
  • Refresh Data Collection request fails with an error in vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager:
  • We see the below error prompted:
    Error Code: UNKNOWN_SYSTEM_ERROR
    Unknown system error.
  • In /var/log/vrlcm/vmware_vrlcm.log you see an error: 
java.lang.NullPointerException

Environment

VMware vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager 8.8.x

Cause

This issue is caused by product data sources which do not maintain vCenterHost property.

Resolution

This issue is resolved in vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager 8.10, available at Broadcom Support Portal

Workaround:
To work around this issue, perform a manual inventory sync of product which uses the vCenter for which data collection is failing.
