Issue/Introduction

This article provides information on Intel's VMware Certified SR-IOV FPGA driver.

This is a new type of driver to be used with VMDirectPath IO. It is not a standard IO driver.

VMware's certification of this driver verifies basic platform and device requirements for VMDirectPath I/O, checking that the PF driver enables VFs correctly and that the VFs are exposed to the VM's guest operating system. The VMDirectPath I/O certification for SR-IOV test suite does not certify end-to-end functionality of the device. It is Intel's responsibility to support end users with end-to-end interoperability and functionality of the overall solution.

Resolution

The set of FPGA management and monitoring tools (PACDs) and accompanying documentation are packaged into an additional partner signed VIB and is available from Intel Corporation. The package can be obtained by sending request to [email protected].
