Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • This is a new installation of vRealize Network Insight Version 5.2
  • Cluster creation fails using the vRealize Network Insight UI, or through a tool such as vRealize Suite Life Cycle Manager, or VMware Cloud Foundation in conjunction with vRealize Network Insight Version 5.2
  • The clustering.log on Platform 1 contains an error similar to the following:
2020-06-15 21:11:33,222,222 ERROR    [create_cluster_from_ovas.py:60] Got exception
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/home/ubuntu/build-target/deploymentmanager/create_cluster_from_ovas.py", line 58, in main
    create_cluster.start(options.config, options.ips, options.vip, is_enterprise, new_def_id.strip())
  • You may see the message: One or more essential services are not healthy on platform.

Environment

VMware vRealize Network Insight 5.2.x

Cause

This is due to a mis-handling of special characters in the support user password.

Resolution

This issue will be fixed in a future release of vRealize Network Insight.

Workaround:

Change the password of the support user to use alpha-numeric characters. Once cluster creation is complete in vRealize Network Insight, you may change the support user password again to contain special characters.
