Issue/Introduction

Upgrading from vCenter Server 5.5 to 6.0 fails with the error:

Cause

This issue occurs if a special character is present in the SSO and root password of the previous appliance it is being upgraded from.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, change the root and SSO password of vCenter Server Appliance which does not contain special character and attempt the upgrade again.
