"File too big => number of hosts > 128. Not Supported" error in the storagerm.log file

Issue/Introduction

In the /var/log/storagerm.log file, you see the error:

File too big => number of hosts > 128. Not Supported

Note: The preceding log excerpts are only examples. Date, time, and environmental variables may vary depending on your environment.

Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi (All Versions)

Cause

This issue occurs because the maximum number of hosts supported per datastore is 128 as per VMware Configuration Maximums.

Resolution

This is expected behavior. To resolve this issue, reduce the number of ESXi hosts connected to the specific datastore where Storage I/O control is enabled.
