Several events triggered in proxy event logs when running a backup job in hotadd mode

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

• While using hotadd mode with Windows 10, the backup operation is successful. However, backup application logs shows multiple instances of error messages:

TryReleaseDevice: DynLinkApi_SetupDiRemoveDeviceInterface failed

• The event viewer reports warning: Disk X has been surprise removed when the windows OS finds the active disk removed.

Environment

VMware Virtual Disk Development 1.2

Cause

This warning occurs when some applications stops the removal of the device.
Note: These warnings do not occur in Windows 2012 R2 but occur in Windows 10. It is related to system design.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, change the operating system to Windows 2012 R2.

Workaround:
To work around this issue, suppress the specific event through registry.
