Containers missing or restarting during upgrade to vRealize Operations Tenant App 8.6

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • During the vRealize Operations Tenant App 8.6 upgrade, containers are continuously restarting or have gone missing, causing the upgrade to hang.


Cause

This issue is caused by failing to delete older plugin images before upgrading to 8.6.

Resolution

This is a known issue affecting the vRealize Operations Tenant App 8.6 upgrade.
See the Workaround section below for information on overcoming this issue.

Workaround:
To workaround this issue, complete the steps below.
  1. Take a snapshot of the Tenant App appliance.
  2. Log into the vRealize Operations Tenant App UI.
  3. Navigate to Administration > Support and stop all services except tenant-app-ui and tenant-app-db-cassandra.
  4. Log into vRealize Operations Tenant App as root via SSH or Console, pressing ALT+F1 in a Console to log in.
  5. Verify the plugin containers are not running executing the following command:
docker ps

Note: Verify that only the tenant-app-ui and tenant-app-db-cassandra containers are running.
  1. Preform the vRealize Operations Tenant App upgrade to 8.6 as normal.
