Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • Cannot add the PowerShell host to vRealize Orchestrator (formerly known as VMware vCenter Orchestrator)
  • Adding the PowerShell host fails
  • You see the error:

    Cannot get kdc for realm

Environment

VMware vCenter Orchestrator 4.2.x

Cause

This issue occurs if the KRB5.conf file is incorrectly formatted.
This issue may also occur if you have not restarted the vRealize Orchestrator (formerly known as VMware vCenter Orchestrator) service after modifying or creating the KRB5.conf file.

Resolution

To resolve this issue:
  1. Ensure that the format of the KRB5 file is similar to:

    [libdefaults]
    default_realm = DOMAIN.LOCAL
    udp_preference_limit = 1
    [realms]
    DOMAIN.LOCAL = {
    kdc = system.domain.local
    default_domain = domain.local
    }
    [domain_realm]
    .domain.local = DOMAIN.LOCAL
    domain.local = DOMAIN.LOCAL

    Note: This format is case sensitive.

  2. Restart the vRealize Orchestrator (formerly known as VMware vCenter Orchestrator) service.
