Issue/Introduction

With Workstation Pro on a Windows host system, you can rename a network you previously added to a name that is meaningful to you.

Environment

VMware Workstation Pro 15.x (Windows)

Resolution

You cannot change the name of a network in the following situations.
  • On a Linux host 
  • On a network Workstation Pro created automatically, such as VMnet0. VMnet1, or VMnet8 
  • On a shared or remote virtual machine
Steps to change the name of a network :
  1. Click on Edit from the VMware Workstation Console.
  2. Select " Virtual Network Editor " from the drop down list.
  3. Virtual Network Editor Console opens.
  4. Click on Change Settings on the bottom right of the console to provide admin privileges to modify the network configuration.
  5. Select an added network.
Note : The network must be one you added, not VMnet0, VMnet1, or VMnet8.
     
       6. Click Rename Network button.
       7. A pop window will appear to rename the virtual network.
       8. Enter a new name as required and click OK.
       9. Click OK to close the Virtual Network Editor Window.
