Issue/Introduction

  • Intel X710 network cards resets automatically. Reports under /var/log/vmkernel.log
  • i40e 0000:01:00.0: TX driver issue detected, PF reset issued
  • On physical switch, Host connected port uplink status flapping seen
  • Host experiences intermittent connectivity issues

VMware vCenter Server 6.0.x
VMware vCenter Converter Standalone 6.x

VMware Update Manager 6.0
VMware vSphere ESXi 6.0
VMware vSphere ESXi 7.X
VMware vSphere ESXi 8.X

Resolution

This should be resolved in the latest version of the intel drivers. 

Refer:https://knowledge.broadcom.com/external/article/323110/determining-networkstorage-firmware-and.html to check if you are running the latest version of the driver for the ESXi host.

 

If the issue continues to persist and if the TSO and LRO are enabled in the advanced settings kindly contact Broadcom Support for further assistance or investigation.

To check if hardware TSO is enabled:

esxcli system settings advanced list -o /Net/UseHwTSO

To check if  LRO is enabled for the VMkernel adapters on the host:

esxcli system settings advanced list -o /Net/TcpipDefLROEnabled
